TO PREVENT LEAKING HBO OFFERED $250,000 TO HACKERS
In HBO’s new message, leaked by the hacker and dated July 27, a network executive offers a $250,000 payment to the as a part of program in which “white hat IT professionals” are rewarded for “bringing these types of things to our attention,” according to Variety.
HBO Offered $250,000 (around 1.7 crores) to hackers to stop leaking the episodes,scripts,and personal imformation about the famous Tv serires “Games Of Thrones”.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO termed it as “bug bounty payment”, calling it part of a programme where ethical hackers were rewarded for finding technical shortcomings, and bringing them to HBO’s attention. HBO has declined to comment on the matter.
HBO hoped to settle these things by gving this quarter of money.but Hackers demand is almost $6 million (around 38.2 crores) in the form of bit coins .
The message also asks the hackers to extend a ransom deadline for one week in order for the network to secure and transfer the requested bitcoin payment.
“You have the advantage of having surprised us,” the message reportedly reads. “In the spirit of professional cooperation, we are asking you to extend your deadline for one week.”
Earlier this week, the HBO hackers released phone numbers and email addresses of Game of Thrones cast members, as part of a 3.4GB data dump. They claim to have a total of 1.5TB of data with them.
The fourth episode of Game of Thrones that was leaked last Friday was part of an unrelated incident, involving Star India.
